Long-term storage

You can deposit your completed datasets directly in the data archive. 4TU.Centre for Research Data ensures standardised, well-documented storage, thereby guaranteeing that the data can be found and re-used. The digital archive guarantees the legibility of the data, even if the hardware and software becomes obsolete.

Are all of the data stored in the 4TU.ResearchData public?

Data are made available only if permission has been granted by the scientist storing them in 4TU.ResearchData.

What is the role of the 4TU.ResearchData?

  • provides storage of the datasets, sustainable maintenance and data management;
  • is responsible for the procedures that guarantee access to and administration of the datasets (thus ensuring that only authorised users can download the datasets);
  • prevents any physical deterioration (by using advanced back-up facilities);
  • facilitates the retrieval and consultation of the datasets (by assigning descriptive metadata according to international standards that remain inseparable from the data);
  • arranges the permanent legibility of the file formats in which the data are stored (the programming with which the datasets can be read is described and stored with a link to the datasets);
  • guarantees the protection of copyrights (4TU.ResearchData does this by assigning descriptive metadata).

The quality of our service provision meets international standards and guidelines for digital archiving.
